Scott Stapp music therapy tsunami victims

One year after Japan’s devastating 9.0 earthquake and tsunami, Grammy Award winner Scott Stapp – singer, songwriter, voice of Creed and founder of the Scott Stapp With Arms Wide Open Foundation, a charity organization dedicated to helping underprivileged children and families around the world – is visiting some of the worst hit areas this March to show support for continued recovery and revitalization and promote global support for Japan.“My heart breaks for the victims. One year ago, our friends in Japan suffered a catastrophe of epic proportions. We will not forget the orphans, widows and families that lost every possession they have known. God bless the all those at the US Embassy and our troops on the ground providing medical care, meals and shelter. I am looking forward to performing for our troops stationed in Japan and to let them know that we appreciate the hard work, compassion, and sacrifice required for such an extraordinary humanitarian relief effort,” Stapp cites as his motivation for visiting Japan.

June 26, 2017

BMI partnered recently with the Florida Association of Broadcasters in presenting their “Service to Florida” award to Scott and Jaclyn Stapp at a ceremony held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Fort Lauderdale on June 21. The award is presented, in conjunction with the Association’s annual convention, to a native Floridian who has given back philanthropically to his or her home state in a profound way. Scott, who was born in Orlando and attended Florida State University, is a decorated BMI songwriter and the lead singer for the GRAMMY award-winning band Creed. He and his wife Jaclyn created both the “Arms Wide Open Foundation” and “CHARM” (Children Are Magical), which helps to heighten awareness of children’s issues and provide underprivileged youth with the tools needed to enrich their lives through education and encouragement. The “Arms Wide Open Foundation” has donated more than a million dollars in funding to various causes. In addition, the couple supports multiple charitable organizations including MusiCares, the Ronald McDonald House of Central Florida, the National Alliance on Mental Illness and the anti-bullying organization NVEEE.
